We are living at a time when many modern, ground-breaking prayer movements and networks have been established. Now, with the current COVID-19 pandemic, many more prayer initiatives are being birthed around the globe. Someone once said, “Whenever God is about to move, He sets His people a-praying!” I think it’s safe to say that no revival in history ever happened without preceding prayer. Very often that preceding prayer was itself preceded by some crisis in society like we see today. The Prayer Ireland app was scheduled to be released just after Easter 2020 but in the light of our current Coronavirus Pandemic, we felt it must be launched now to maximise prayer in this critical hour.
We want to honour the many people who have prayed for countless years for a spiritual awakening in Ireland – we are building on a foundation of hundreds of years of intercession for the island. The purpose of this Prayer Ireland app is to facilitate a virtual 24-7 prayer initiative that might contribute to an ushering in of a genuine move of God’s Spirit in our land. We want to mobilise as many believers in Jesus Christ in Ireland, the believing Irish diaspora across the globe and anyone from anywhere who has a heart to pray for another great awakening in our ancient land.
The vision of Prayer Ireland was birthed in a time of prayer when God downloaded this idea and the basic format of the app. We all carry our phones ‘for better or for worse’ but here is an opportunity to participate in a united digital community of prayer wherever you are in the world. At the heart of the app is a calendar where you can choose any and as many 15 minute slots as you would like. Several people can choose the same slot of course. Ideally, we eventually want to achieve a 24-7 covering of prayer. Various prayer resources and articles to help you to pray will be added to the app on an ongoing basis. There will also be a regular devotional that will inspire you to pray each day. The exciting feature of an interactive world map will locate where in the world people are using the app to pray for Ireland.
As this vision is from the Lord, we believe it to be effective and fruitful and we hope the result will be a digital prayer tsunami that will impact our people forever. 2 Chronicles 7:14 is as true today as it always has been:
If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
