“Your will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven” Matthew 6:10
So what does it look like to be ‘Kingdom Focused’ in our place of work, our home or our church?
Jesus taught us to pray by petitioning our Heavenly Father for His Kingdom to come, “Your will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven” By definition, ‘kingdom’ is the ‘spiritual reign or authority of God’. How do we therefore manifest the spiritual reign or authority of God in our everyday lives? I have pondered this many times as I drive to work, after tackling a school run, with a head full of the actions for the day.
Of late, the Holy Spirit has prompted me to pray the Lord’s Prayer at the start of my day with a very definite pause at this verse. The results have been notable. Have I been blessed with continuous stress-free, peaceful days? Definitely not! But, I have noticed with great consistency: the mark of wisdom and creativity beyond my earthly knowledge, an increase of patience with people I previously avoided, unexpected and surprising favour from other organisations and divinely appointed meetings with people who have gifted me with discernment and encouragement.
Can we partner with Kingdom principles and expect our goals, targets or outcomes to improve?
The answer is Yes and Amen.
Heavenly Father, we thank you for Your Son Jesus, who sacrificed His life, so that we may build your Kingdom, on earth as it is in Heaven. Holy Spirit, show us how to manifest Your Kingdom and Your will in our lives every day, for Your glory and Your honour. Amen
