Are You on the Wall?

“Jerusalem, I have stationed intercessors on your walls; who will never be silent, day or night.

You “reminders” of Yahweh, take no rest, and tirelessly give God no rest, until he firmly establishes Jerusalem and makes her the praise of all the earth!” Isaiah 62:6-7 TPT

Over the last number of years in Ireland the Wild Atlantic Way has become a phenomenon with tourists travelling miles along the western coastline to experience the beauty of this island. Its rugged cliffs, golden beaches and vast countryside would pull on any heart strings and draw the soul back time and time again to delight in these magnificent views. But many years prior to this there was another reason why people looked upon the coastline of Ireland and it was because during World War II a group of people set up Look Out Posts (LOPs) along the coastline from Louth right round to the north of Donegal as navigational aids to bombers that were flying overhead. Eighty-three LOPs were set up in total to guard neutral Ireland against invasion. Local watchmen were appointed and stationed to a 24/7 round the clock watch. Any information gathered was then reported back to military intelligence and dealt with accordingly.

As I think of these LOPs throughout Ireland and the people who once were stationed at them, I have been drawn to think of God’s appointed watchmen and women. At that pivotal time in history Irish people were positioned strategically at these LOPs to provide much needed direction, but also to alert of impending danger. A vital job, which was very much under the radar. Similarly, today, God has appointed watchmen and women throughout Ireland. Each hidden person playing a vital role in the future prosperity of this island and the nations.

Today, we face a different war but one that is still as deadly. The war we face is ‘not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places’ (Ephesians 6:12). Today we must not remain neutral but we must declare our allegiance to the Lord Jesus Christ.

We need our watchmen and women on the walls like never before. God’s people voluntarily giving up of their time to position themselves before His throne of grace. We need watchmen and women who do not hold their peace day or night, but who constantly have the ear of God. We need watchmen and women who have ears to hear and eyes to see what the Spirit of the Living God is saying in these days. Today, Ireland needs watchmen and women on the ball whilst on the wall! Is God calling you today to take up your position on the wall?

Dear Lord, we thank you for the watchmen and women that are positioned throughout Ireland and we ask that You would raise up more intercessors at this time. Lord, we pray that You would navigate us through these turbulent times and that we would be steps ahead of the enemy. We come and we ask you Lord to protect Ireland. In the Lord Jesus Christ’s Name, Amen.
