Know Who You Are!

Because you are his sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, “Abba, Father.” Galatians 4:6

As a child I was very shy and very insecure. I grew up an only child, in a low-income home, where both of my parents were unable to work due to complex health issues. Perhaps, partly due to circumstances, I had no self-confidence whatsoever as a young person and it was not until much later in life that I developed a new found sense of confidence, not in my self, but in God. As I began to grow in God-confidence, the insecurities of the past began to fade and new doors of opportunity began to open up as my faith grew. Over time I came to realise that:

Our sense of identity determines our level of confidence and our level of faith.

For too long the identity of believers in Ireland has been weighed down by low self-worth and feelings of inadequacies. Discouragement and unbelief, even from Christian leaders, have served to further amplify our feelings of having to ‘put up with things the way they are’ rather than stirring faith within us to believe that we can see transformation in our lives, families and communities through the power of the Holy Spirit that abides with us.

However, when we know who we are, we can stand against the storms of this life in the confidence that God the creator of the universe is our Father and we are His sons and daughters, called to rule and reign with Him.

The time has come in Ireland for us who are the sons and daughters of God to arise, knowing who we are and knowing whose we are. The time has come for us to arise, with confidence in our royal identity and step out boldly, in faith, knowing that with God all things are possible.

Father, we thank You that we are Your sons and daughters. We thank You that Your royal blood flows through our veins and we have been given power and authority over every work of the enemy. We declare that we will no longer be bowed down with the weight of poor self-image, but we will go forward as co-heirs with Christ, believing that transformation is coming to every community across our land. In Jesus’ Name, Amen!
