Press On

It’s alarming how much our world has changed in the last 20 years. New concepts and technology have been embraced and have become a way of life for many of us; some helpful and some not so much. My WIFI was down a few days last week and the 4G was barely working and for a moment it felt I had lost contact with the outside world! Yet in the midst of my frustration, there was God’s still and clear voice, calling me to use the silence as a time to hear Him, instead of the crazy and overwhelming sounds of this world. Friends, it’s so easy to drown out His voice. We become busy, anxious and lost, and as His children, we at times put other priorities over what should be most important: spending time with our Father God, Creator of all things.

In Hosea 6:3 we read:

“Oh, that we might know the Lord!
Let us press on to know him.
He will respond to us as surely as the arrival of dawn
or the coming of rains in early spring.”

In order for us to fully know Him, we must seek after Him. We need to intentionally press in to know Him better and be good stewards of the time on this earth that He gives to us. Spending time in His word and prayer, allowing the Holy Spirit to speak, direct and guide us, more than spending time on social media that is making us fearful and anxious. In the pressing in, He responds. He is as sure as the morning dawn. There hasn’t been one day since God created this earth that the sun didn’t rise, and with the assurance and the confidence that we have that the sun will rise, we can have confident hope that no matter what has been pulling us backwards or dragging us down, we can be sure that He is right there, ready and willing to respond to us. He is a call away, a desperate cry, a silent whisper, He is right there. Now that’s hope!

As believers in Ireland no matter what is going on around us let us not give in to fear, anxiety, or hopelessness. Let’s intentionally press on to know God and know His purposes and plans over our own lives and allow ourselves to be led by the Holy Spirit. Let’s be confident that God will move in our communities and throughout Ireland.  Press on and call out His name.

Father, I acknowledge that You are my only true hope. Father, help me to set aside the things that distract and pull me away from time with You. Instead, help me to intentionally press on to know You better. Father, I pray that in pressing on, people would see a change in me. Give me the confidence to share with others that my hope is fully in You. Father, I pray that people throughout Ireland would recognise their need of You and seek after You. In Your precious and always unchanging name Jesus, we pray, Amen.
