I am one of those people who prefer to prepare ahead of time. If I’m being hospitable and expecting guests, I like to have a casserole ready in the oven and everything set out beforehand. If I’m travelling, the suitcase is packed long before the holiday. In our verse today God is the One who has prepared specific plans for us ahead of time. I love Ephesians 2:10, a power-packed verse. Let’s check it out in a few different translations.
For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things He planned for us long ago. Ephesians 2:10 (NLT)

For we are God’s (own) handiwork (His workmanship), recreated in Christ Jesus, (born anew) that we may do those good works which God predestined (planned beforehand) for us (taking paths which He prepared ahead of time), that we should walk in them (living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us to live). - There is a good life that God has already prepared for us.
- There are prepared paths that each one of us ought to walk in.
- There are prearranged good works for us to do along the path of life.
He has a specific path for you today which should make you wake up with excited anticipation and jump out of bed with a spring in your step. He has a path prepared for you that will advance His kingdom, glorify His name, demonstrate His faithfulness and unfailing love, and bring a sense of fulfilment, peace and contentment to your own soul. Your are a masterpiece with a Master plan. When God laid out the plan for your life, he lined up the divine connections and the supernatural opportunities and the release of favour to help you fulfil your destiny. Read through the book of Ruth and you will see exactly what I mean. There are bundles of favour on purpose along your pathway. You are a love and cherished one-of-a-kind creation. Each of us has an eternally-designed job description which includes the task, the ability and the place to serve. God knows you better than you know yourself. If you know that you’ve strayed away from following His purposes, you need to know that it’s not too late to begin walking out the paths He has for you. Personalising our verse today makes it ever more meaningful to you, especially the last part of the verse which says “…living the good life which he prearranged and made ready for (add your name) to live.” We get to walk in prearranged paths – how exciting is that!
