God Adverts

You are the light of the world.  A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.  Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl.  Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.  In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.  Matthew 5:14-16 (NIVUK)

If I write, “Snap! Crackle! Pop!” most people would immediately think of Kellogg’s Rice Krispies.

Let’s try some more.

  2. “Share moments.  Share life”
  3. “I’m Lovin’ It”
  4. “When you care enough to send the very best”
  5. “It does exactly what it says on the tin”
  6. “Think different”
  7. “Have it your way”
  8. “Because you’re worth it”
  9. “Eat fresh”
  10. “Taste the rainbow”
  11. “They’re Gr-r-r-reat”
  12. “Every little helps”

The best advertising slogans are the ones that truly describe what a brand stands for, stick in the consumer’s mind and help the product to stand out.  Such is the power of advertising.  That made me think: what do people think of when they see you and I today?  We are God’s audiovisual presentation here to billboard His greatness and promote Him in every area of life.  Jesus tells us:

You are the light of the world.  Matthew 5:14 (NIVUK)

Jesus did not say, “You are the light of the church.”  He said, “You are the light of the world.”  Our Christianity should be evident to all.  We are here to reflect God.  We are here to love others like Jesus.  We are here to put God on display to the world.  Our good deeds ought to draw attention, not to ourselves, but to God.

May God be glorified in your life today.
